James Danforth is a Managing Director at Peakline Partners and co-heads the firm’s Venture Capital investing practice. With more than 20 years of investment experience, James has spent over a decade focused on venture capital, deploying more than $600 million across early- and growth-stage opportunities.
Prior to joining Peakline, James was Director of Alternative Investments at TRUE Capital for eight years. He transitioned to Peakline in 2023 following TRUE’s merger with Cresset. Earlier in his career, he led equity fund research within the Global Manager Research group at Callan Associates, advising institutional clients with over $3 trillion in assets. James also helped manage the $6 billion endowment for the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
James earned his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and holds an MBA from the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. He is also a CFA® charterholder.
Outside of work, James is an active water polo player and was previously named MVP of both his Oxford and Bucknell teams. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two children.
